Your code samples use fancy single quotes.  i.e. :role =&#62; ‘ceo’, 

Can you use simple quotes instead?  i.e. :role =&#62; 'ceo'

It makes it easier to cut and paste your code samples into irb for a little test drive.   Thanks!</description>
